Terms & Disclaimer

By downloading or using Scamly, you're agreeing to these terms. We've written them in plain English so you can actually read them. Last updated 23 October 2026.

The short version

1. What Scamly does

Scamly is an AI-powered scam-detection app. You give it a message (text, email, screenshot, voicemail, or live call). Our AI analyses it and returns a verdict — Safe, Suspicious, or Scam — along with a risk score and the specific red flags it saw.

The AI is powered by Anthropic Claude and OpenAI Whisper. We don't guarantee the AI will always be right. See the Disclaimer below.

2. Who can use Scamly

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scamly. If you're under 18, you'll need a parent or guardian's permission.

3. Your account

You can use Scamly anonymously without creating an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, you're responsible for keeping that account secure.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Data. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

4. Subscriptions

5. Acceptable use

Please don't:

We can suspend or ban accounts that break these rules. We may also auto-throttle accounts producing unusual volumes to protect service quality and costs.

6. Elder-care sharing & guardians

If you add a Guardian, you're confirming you have that person's consent to send them emails about scams detected on your account. We send only the sender, verdict and red flags — never the full message. Guardians can unsubscribe directly from any email.

7. Content you submit

You keep ownership of any message, image, or audio you send to Scamly. By submitting it, you grant us a limited licence to process it to produce a scan verdict and show it back to you on your History tab. We don't use your content to train AI, show you ads, or share it with anyone else.

8. Disclaimer — important

Scamly is a helpful guide, not a guarantee.

Our AI is accurate most of the time but will occasionally be wrong. A “Safe” verdict is Scamly's best guess based on the content you submit — not a certification that the message is safe. A “Scam” verdict is similarly a strong signal but not legal proof.

Scamly is not a substitute for:

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scamly is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for losses arising from relying on a Scamly verdict. If you lose money to a scam that Scamly rated as Safe, we're genuinely sorry — but Scamly didn't cause the loss and can't compensate it. Contact your bank immediately and report the scam to the authorities.

This disclaimer doesn't limit any rights you have under consumer-protection laws that can't be waived (for example, Australian Consumer Law, UK Consumer Rights Act, EU consumer directives).

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of Scamly is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or AUD $50 if you're on Free). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top and let you know inside the app. Continuing to use Scamly after a change means you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, delete your account.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. If you're in another country, your local consumer-protection laws still apply where they can't be contracted out of.
